Dr. Cindy Wong was born in Vancouver and raised in Burnaby. During high school, she was actively involved in her community where she volunteered at several community centres and long-term care facilities. She thoroughly enjoyed the interactions she had with people of various ages and physical abilities, and found it rewarding to be able to help people improve their quality of life.
Before going into dentistry, Dr. Wong completed both her undergraduate and graduate degrees in Nursing, and practiced as a full-time Registered Nurse at Vancouver General Hospital. She found that having a nursing background helped her gain initial exposure in health care and enabled her to provide care to patients while working with various members of the health care team in a variety of settings.
Dr. Wong received her dental degree from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, and earned the Dean’s Award for Academic and Clinical Excellence upon graduation. During dental school, she also volunteered at the Free Medical Clinic to provide basic and emergency dental care to underprivileged families, and at various community centres to educate children on oral hygiene. Following graduation, she completed a post-doctoral residency program (Advanced Education in General Dentistry) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where she received advanced training in all aspects of general dentistry. After completing her studies, she returned home to practice to be close to family and friends.
Dr. Wong is a clinical instructor at the UBC Faculty of Dentistry. She is passionate about offering her patients the best and leading edge dental services available, and invests time in ongoing training each year. Dr. Wong is an active member of the College of Dental Surgeons of British Columbia, BC and Canadian Dental Associations, American Dental Association, and the Academy of General Dentistry. She is also fluent in Cantonese.
When not working, Dr. Wong enjoys swimming, biking, playing the piano, and travelling to different parts of the world to explore various cultures and meeting new people. She is committed to building lasting relationships with her patients, and is dedicated to providing all her patients with the highest quality and gentlest dental care.
